Sheep Laughs: Mike Williams

If you combined the prop genius of a Carrot Top, with the musical mind of a Weird Al, and then threw in a great speaker, you would have a little idea of what to expect from Dr. Comedy - Mike Williams. Mike starts his comedy presentation by asking the audience about their hobbies, collections, and careers and then bizarrely weaves this information into the entire show. There are electronic “rim shot machines” and “warning bells” given to audience members to use randomly at their own discretion. Mike’s ability to use audience members as improvisational partners is simply amazing. The performance becomes a one man, Who’s Line Is It Anyway, as the audience becomes as much a part of the performance as he is.

A large box of props adds to the fun as this former writer for “Carrot Top” takes you to the edge of hysteria and jumps off. As the show draws to a close the audience is asked to give suggestions of musical styles or favorite singers. Mike plows right into hilarious musical impersonations and parodies. Mike was born the youngest of five to an inner city family steeped in crime, drugs, abuse and poverty. Mike’s oldest brother was killed at seventeen, on the streets of Chicago and another brother was killed at seventeen in prison. His two sisters turned to alcohol and drugs, a turn for which they have never fully recovered. At the age of twenty-seven he located his biological father for the first and last time. Mike’s mother chose to give him away in hopes that at least one of her children could have a chance at a future. Mike wound up in a little Christian family and the fun was just about to begin. You will laugh and cry if you get the opportunity to hear his moving testimony. You will leave marveling at the grace of God. As a bonus, you may get to see some pictures of Mike and Terica’s newly adopted son, Chapman. The story of God’s grace continues!
